Not gonna lie. I squealed a little inside when I heard the news that Stephenie Meyer was releasing a book about Bree Tanner, one of the minor characters in the Twilight series. But, before starting to write this I could barely remember who Bree was, so one could wonder why I’d even be excited.
Well, I’ll tell you. Stephenie Meyer’s addictive storytelling style is a huge part of what made me fall in love with the Twilight world. It’s hard to remember that with all the hoopla surrounding the movies and the actors involved, although that’s definitely brought the craze to another level. We all know that Twilight is much more than what we see onscreen. The stories are truly what make the whole phenomenon a phenomenon. What girl doesn’t want the excitement of first love and its accompanying whirlwind romance?
Stephenie Meyer’s words made me fall in love with Edward Cullen and had me reminiscing about new love. Had I not read the books before watcing the films, I’m not so sure Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart would’ve drawn me in to this world as solidly as the books did. Stephenie’s ability to capture the emotions in words is pretty special.
Basically I’m just glad to finally be reading something of hers again, even if it’s about a minor character like Bree Tanner. I bet that by the end of the book, I’ll care about Bree just as much as the Cullens.
I seriously can’t wait to read it. Will you be reading it too? If you haven’t already, you can order your copy of the The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner through Amazon. And if you haven’t noticed the bonus, one dollar from every book sold will support the American Red Cross. Win!
